Began in 1992 by president & founder Michael Josephson, who planned a summit conference with a diverse group of educators & ethicists who sought to find universal ethical values that everyone would feel comfortable teaching to young people. They agreed on the Six Pillars of CharacterSM as a foundation for character development.
Based in Los Angeles, Calif, The Josephson Institute of Ethics administers the Coalition.
However, members have much flexibility in using CHARACTER COUNTS!SM
